Park View Nursing Home

The Location

Park View is set in beautiful gardens in the lovely village of Blunsdon, which is close to Swindon centre. We have been established for over 40 years and are very much part of the community, located in a residential area with lovely neighbours, a couple of pubs and churches, close to supermarkets and garden centres and with good transport links.

Our Objectives

We see ourselves as a family and care for our residents as we would our own family.

Supporting our residents to live life as well as they can, our ethos is to treat everyone as individuals and to maintain our “homely” atmosphere. Yet we realise the importance of having the right balance between providing care and encouraging and helping the resident to be as independent as possible, so our home is designed to encourage mobility in a safe and supportive environment.

It is imperative to remain champions in Infection Control, Nutrition, End of Life Care, Oral Care, Mental Capacity and Dementia. By ensuring we have the latest guidance, we can provide effective support to all our staff.

Types of Care

Park View can support people with nursing needs, dementia, learning disabilities or those that require compassionate end of life care. Our very experienced and skilled support staff allow us to also care for people with complex needs. We want our residents to enjoy their life whether they require a little help or a lot of help. We have excellent nurses who can assess the level of need and then develop a care plan with the person so that it’s completely person centred but also realistic and achievable.

Specialised equipment ensures our residents receive the right support and if we haven’t got it, we will always try and get it!

Care

We have a wonderful team who really care about our residents. They are chosen carefully continually trained to the highest standard, many of our staff have been with us for many years. Our Matron who herself has been at Park View for almost 30 years leads the team with confidence and has the right values to ensure the care and support we give is to the highest standard. We understand that choosing the right nursing home will be a difficult decision, and so we strive to make life as enjoyable as possible with competent and compassionate staff who always treat our residents and each other with dignity and respect. It is important that we work with professionals in the community, We value help and seek specialist advice when needed, with support from our local GP, residents receive the best possible care and support. Park View is about working together to achieve the best outcome for all our residents. Named nurses will listen to residents and find out their wishes, likes and dislikes and how they want to live their life. A care plan is then developed and this has the resident at the centre so that the support we give is unique to the individual. We welcome and value input from families and friends and have monthly meetings to ensure the resident is enjoying life and achieving his/her outcomes

Catering

Mealtimes are an important part of our day at Park View. Our experienced chefs create a tasty, balanced and nutritional menu using locally sourced ingredients. We have a menu that residents are shown and the cook visits residents daily to find out what option they would like. We want everyone to enjoy their meals and so offer alternatives to the main menu options. Residents are able to sit and eat in the dining room or they can take their meals in their room or sat out in the garden. We encourage friends and family to join us and it is a real family atmosphere especially when the much loved pudding trolley goes around with homemade puddings and desserts. We also cater for special diets such as gluten free, vegetarian or vegan as well as for swallow problems and we can modify the food to suit the individual.

Activities

Our full time Activities Coordinator supports and encourages activities to suit everyone from the many floor activities as well as our full size cinema screen for movie afternoons. The lovely gardens are wheelchair accessible and we have garden furniture for residents and families to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. We have lots of bird tables and bird boxes and are lucky to have a lovely array of birds and squirrels. Our planters are wheelchair height so that residents can easily partake in some planting and gardening. We have our own wheelchair accessible vehicle allowing us to take residents out to the shops, garden centres, pubs or anywhere they want to go. Bowling is one of our most popular venues for our residents.

Visiting

We understand the importance of our residents having regular contact with family and friends, in I line with published guidelines. To allow for this, we have invested in a purpose-built summer house which can be accessed without having to go through rest of the home. Visits will need to be booked in advance to ensure the safety of all our residents.

Key Features

What Our Client Say

Since my mother has been at Park View her health has improved. The nurses and care staff are exceptional. She is well cared for and looks a lot cleaner. Her room is very comfortable with her own TV and allowed to have her own pictures on the wall. We couldn't imagine a better place for her to stay.

C G
(Daughter of Resident)

My mother is kept comfortable, with wonderful attention by all staff, who are attentive and sympathetic to her condition. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursing home.

A V
(Son of Resident)

Park View is an excellent nursing home where the staff and management really care about their residents. Nothing is too much trouble and time is given to every resident.

G V
(Son of Resident)

My mother, aged 96, moved from a nursing home in Cardiff to Park View in August 2018. She was welcomed and settled very quickly. The staff are very caring and very fond of her. The food is good and varied, and Mum is always clean and well dressed. She enjoys all the musical entertainment which is provided, and the many celebrations. Family are always welcome too, communication is good and staff are very friendly. Park View isn't luxurious, but that isn't important as the care and atmosphere are excellent.

P B
(Daughter of Resident)

Dad became a resident in September 2019 after leaving hospital. We specifically chose Park View as my late mother-in-law was nursed here for the last three and a half years of her life, so we were aware of the high standard of care, professionalism and dignity offered. The staff are always happy, smiling and welcoming and caring towards all of our family. As a family, we are all very happy with the care and support that dad is receiving and for the care and support offered to mum also - it means a lot. Thank you.

A B
(Son of Resident)

Our mother stayed here for the last two weeks before her passing. The care she received was excellent and we could not have been more content with all of the staff. They treated all of our family with great respect and they became part of our family. If anyone is looking for a place for their loved ones, this is the home to choose. You are able to visit day or night, which we found to suit us all.

Edward L
(Son of Resident)

From the very first visit when looking for a home for mum to the time mum passed away, we were always made to feel welcome. Mum was looked after and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The atmosphere of the premises was more of a family home rather than an institution.

R M
(Son of Resident)

Park View Nursing Home is an extremely well run home with caring and understanding staff. The matron is very approachable to discuss any worries regarding my mother as is also wither of the staff nurses or the secretary. The home is kept very clean and the food is freshly prepared and always smells clean when entering the front door into the lounge. All the staff are always polite and welcoming.

Amanda B
(Daughter of Resident)

This is an outstanding care home. My dad has had excellent care since he has been here. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and genuinely work hard to care for the residents.
